Multi-Topic Directories
  • The Center for Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder, in conjunction with the university libraries, has produced a web page listing Environmental Resources on the Web that is both searchable and categorized by subject matter.
  • The Center for Economic and Social Studies on the Environment at the Free University of Brussels (Belgium) has compiled a list of environmental directories on a wide variety of subjects.
  • The EnviroLink Network is a non-profit organization that has been providing access to thousands of online environmental resources since 1991.
  • SaveTheEnvironment.com has compiled an extensive list of categorized, annotated links. One feature is a page that links to additional environmental directories.
  • Green Trust Sustainability & Renewable Energy is a place to discuss and learn about renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, & biofuels), permaculture, conservation, recycling, organic gardening, rainwater harvesting and gray water recovery, and other methods of living cleanly and efficiently, and leaving lighter footprints on our earth. It also features links to many fascinating environment-related websites categorized under 20 different themes.
  • The Amazing Environment Organization Web Directory! bills itself as "Earth's biggest environment search engine," and does indeed have a wealth of links to websites covering every aspect of environmental work. Many of the links are outdated, but the ones that work are interesting.


Specialized Directories
  • The Environmental Research Foundation (ERF) publishes Rachel's Environmental & Health News, an online newsletter named for Rachel Carson. The goal of ERF is to provide understandable scientific information about the influence of toxic substances on human health and the environment. Back issues of the newsletter are available on the website.
  • The North American Association for Environmental Education maintains a list of resources for environmental educators.
  • The Institute for Local Self Reliance has compiled links to many organizations working in the fields of community and sustainable development, energy, recycling, and the carbohydrate economy (the use of plant matter for energy and industrial raw materials).
